🔬 Fuel Innovation - support BINA’s end of year fundraising drive
Donate! The Training and Education Working Group (T&E WG) was created to bring together resources from the North American bioimaging community, share these resources and avoid duplication of efforts. The group will also survey the community to understand the needs and work with BINA members to develop and offer workshops, training programs and educational courses.
The first task is to collate and make available microscopy training materials on the BINA website, enabling BINA members to train budding microscopists more effectively and efficiently and bringing helpful training resources to geographically remote regions. This task is especially urgent in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which in person training has become especially challenging. Materials will include handbooks, video clips, tutorials, particularly useful review papers, online courses and workshops and links to other notable websites with an emphasis on microscopy education.
The T&E WG will concentrate its efforts as follows:
Presentation at the BINA 2022 Community Congress from the Training and Education Working Group.
Presentation and Session organized by the BINA Training & Education WG at the BINA2024CC
The BioImaging North America Community Conversation hosted by the Training and Education Working Group on October 14, 2021 was recorded and is available on the BINA YouTube channel.
BioImaging North America Training & Education Working Group, Exchange of Experience Virtual Group, Topic: Core Facility Management, a monthly hour for open discussion of challenges, ideas, and questions with fellow core facility staff – happening the last Wednesday of each month at 10 am PT / 12 pm CT / 1 pm ET.
Training & Education Working Group video update from the LABIxBINA 2023 Conference.
A document that provides “a brief introduction to the basics of publicly sharing image data [in] an attempt to demystify the process”, generated by Kate Luby-Phelps and colleagues.
This publication spearheaded by the ABRF Light Microscopy Research Group also involved BINA leadership and members of BINA Image Informatics, Corporate Partners and Training and Education working groups. The results present a novel 3D tissue-like biologically relevant standard sample that is affordable and straightforward to prepare.
Due to the urgent need for virtual training materials as a result of the COVID19 pandemic, we are posting this preliminary collection of links. As we receive and vet more materials, the list will become more complete.
Multiple videos have been subtitled and online books have been translated by Members of the Training & Education WG
In an effort to be more inclusive and address accessibility issues around training and education resources, the BINA Training and Education WG’s “Translation” subgroup has developed a Translation resource document that they are using to translate training materials and can be used as a template for others in the community. The list of training courses currently being worked on by this group is here if you would like to review and provide feedback.
