See Entries!BINA will support its North American academic members to host events in Canada, Mexico and the United States and its territories. This support takes the form of a sponsorship payment made to the host institution, coordinated through the organizers of the event. BINA supports regional networking events with a focus on microscopy techniques, management and teaching skills, and/or image data management and analysis skills, while building community around these areas of mutual interest. It is largely at the discretion of the organizers* as to how the funds may be utilized and organizers should present a case for alignment of their event goals with BINA’s mission and values.
We encourage event organizers to review the great work done by 500 Women in Science to promote inclusiveness and their Inclusive Scientific Meeting Guide. Your efforts to support diversity and inclusion in your event planning will be considered in the evaluation process.
*NOTE: Event funds cannot be used to purchase alcoholic beverages or provide honoraria or prizes. If you have questions or concerns about other possible restrictions on how these funds can be used please contact us.
In exchange for BINA support, at a minimum, the BINA logo should be placed on the event website acknowledging support, and space provided in the program to share a 15 minute presentation about BINA (this could be in person from a BINA member in attendance or a pre-recorded presentation). A post-event report must be provided (within a month of completion of the event). The report should include the following event-related participant demographic while maintaining participant anonymity;
If helpful, the BINA administrative team can assist with this data collection by sharing the sorts of questions we ask our own event participants, when we share the logo materials.
